Douglas Edwards is a master of expansive landscapes evoking memories of familiar places – ponds, streams, meadows, hills, country roads and water.  His mixture of expressionist and impressionist landscapes are frequently dominated by expansive skies. Edwards’ paintings have a quality about them with subtle moods created through the use of a combination of muted and vibrant colour, a unique composition and a expressive atmosphere. 

He paints with a masterly, loose style, using complementary colours and colour opposites to explore expressions of light playing on land, trees and water.  Not solely limited to landscape, Edwards is equally at ease with cityscape, still life and the figure.
Educated at the Ontario College of Art & Design, he also studied for a year in Florence, Italy and taught at Sheridan College.

Douglas Edwards has developed an international reputation with a lengthy list of corporate, public and private clients with collections in North America, Europe and Asia.
